  1. Just what the heck is this seminar called “Strategies for Success”?

Simply put, Strategies for Success(SFS) is an intensive, five day, college level business building program specifically designed for carpet cleaning, restoration and janitorial company owners and managers. The SFS seminar includes over 1,000 pages of systems and procedures that combined give SFS members a turn-key Business Infrastructure that they can follow exactly or customize to fit their own business goals. In addition, SFS members are automatically included in our ongoing support out-reach program called TIPS (Techniques, Ideas, Procedures and Systems) plus they receive unlimited consulting access to SFS instructors Steve Toburen and Bill Yeadon.

  2. OK, I’ll bite. How much is the SFS seminar?

If you choose to pay for the SFS seminar it costs 695.00 for the entire five days. This fee includes all manuals (over 1,000 pages) plus your SFS Operations Manual on CD/ROM. Your continental breakfasts, all lunches, snacks and dinner and drinks on Wednesday night are also covered. There is NO high pressure or extra costs to receive additional training or to get to a higher, “more favored level”!

  3. Whoa! Wait just a minute! You say I can choose whether I can pay or not? So I suppose the next thing you’re going to say is I can attend SFS for free?

That is 100% correct. Attending SFS for free is very likely the best kept secret in the carpet cleaning industry. You’ll receive a free admission to SFS if in the previous 12 months before your chosen seminar you have purchased 5,000.00 or more of any product Jon-Don sells. No exemptions and no fine print! As a free attendee you are given the same first class treatment all SFS members receive.

  4. You keep referring to being a “SFS member”. So how do I get to be a SFS member and how much more does this “upgrade” cost?

Not one cent. Really. Honestly. When you attend a SFS seminar you automatically become a “SFS Member for Life”. That’s it. NO gimmicks, NO strings attached and once again, NO fine print! There is NO sign up fee, NO ongoing charge to belong and no buying level from Jon-Don that you must maintain. (Even though we sincerely appreciate your support of the SFS program through your purchases from Jon-Don!)

  5. This all sounds great. In fact, it sounds a little too good to be true. Not to sound suspicious but why are you offering all this training and support at very low prices or even free???

It is very simple, really. At Jon-Don we learned a long time ago that our growth and success is inextricably tied to the success of our customers. We discovered that the typical carpet cleaner was a great, honest and hard working individual. BUT he or she many times needed training and ongoing support in the management, marketing and overall business organization areas. Voila! Strategies for Success was born way back in 1996! (For more on why and how SFS was created just go to Steve Toburen’s personal message to you here.) So to cut to the chase here you might say that SFS is a “loss leader” for Jon-Don. Every time we present a SFS seminar we lose money on it initially but hope to make it back by investing in your success! Since 1996 we’ve presented over 60 SFS seminars and are currently helping more than 2,000 SFS members achieve their definition of success.

  6. So who teaches SFS?

We have three highly respected instructors each fill a different niche within SFS.
Chuck Violand from Violand Management Associates focuses on selecting and hiring the very best employees and what he wryly refers to as the “dreaded financials”, including a step-by-step program on how to price your work profitably. For more on chuck click here …
Bill Yeadon is Education Coordinator for Jon-Don and teaches an entire day on revolutionary marketing techniques and systems. Bill has over 74 years of experience in all aspects of the cleaning and restoration industry. To learn more about Bill just click here …
Steve Toburen is the Director of Training for the Strategies for Success program and its little brother, the Value Added Service for Technicians seminar. Steve started out in 1969 as the owner/operator of a cleaning and restoration firm and built it into a nationally recognized powerhouse. He then sold his business interests and retired from full time business at the age of 38. Steve will spend three days with you taking you step by step through the concepts and the systems needed to build a dream of a company- one that will run beautifully with you- or without you! For more on Steve’s life click here …

  7. So what sort of voo-doo are you three guys teaching at SFS?

Strategies is built on three basic concepts. First, the “Desired End Product” of your company should always be a delighted Customer Cheerleader that sings your praises to everyone they meet. Second, 80% of how your customer decides if you did a “good job” (and whether they will become a Cheerleader) is based on their relationship with the person actually doing the work in their home. And finally, for your company to have real value, you must manage the experience of your customer by programming hundreds of Positive “Moments of Truth” into your “Service Circle.”

  8. You mention earlier about “achieving my chosen level of success”. What if I don’t want to “get big”? all I want to do is be an owner-operator and make lots of money. Will SFS help me?

Absolutely. SFS is about doing it right- especially in your face-to-face relationship and procedures with the home owner. A substantial percentage of our SFS members make a conscious decision to stay small. BUT SFS gives them the concepts and tools to make more money in less time. In fact, it could be argued that without employees a carpet cleaner needs SFS principles even more just to maximize their profit potential!
